Cold Laser Therapy
In keeping up with the ever changing technology in the chiropractic profession, Dr. Cavallo is pleased to announce the availability of cold laser therapy at his Longmont, Colorado office.
In addition to comprehensive pain management services such as chiropractic, physical therapy modalities, corrective exercises, and spinal screenings, the Chiropractic Office of Dr. Louis Cavallo will soon provide patients with cold laser therapy in treatment of many common strains, tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, shoulder strain, carpal tunnel and other problems resulting from overuse of the muscles.Cold laser therapy has been shown to heal injuries and strains faster than traditional treatment. The cold laser increases cellular production of Adenosine Triphosphate, known as ATP, which effectively speeds recovery. Professional athletes in the NFL and NBA often count on cold laser to treat their sports related injuries.According to Dr. Cavallo, “Cold laser therapy facilitates the healing process. As opposed to ongoing steroid or other lengthy traditional treatment for these painful injuries, cold laser therapy works in as few as two to three visits. Patients are able to alleviate pain, obtain faster results and get back to their normal routine much more quickly.”
Cold laser therapy has been FDA approved for use in treatment for the following conditions:
· Carpal tunnel syndrome
· Neck and shoulder pain of musculoskeletal origin
· Pain and stiffness
· Relief of muscles and joint aches
· Muscle spasms
· Minor pain and stiffness associated with arthritis
· Pain relief for patients who do not wish to take pain medication

Headache Question
Q: I get a lot of tension headaches, can chiropractic help me? Nina H.
A: It is estimated that 90% of men and 95 % of women experienced at least one headache last year. Of these headaches, 85 % were tension type headaches. Tension headaches are the most common type of headache and affect both men and women equally. These headaches may be caused by stress and can also become chronic; some people suffer with these headaches on a daily basis. Proper diagnosis is essential to determining the cause of your headaches. For those suffering with tension/muscular headaches, chiropractic is the treatment of choice. Research has shown that chiropractic management of these headaches is effective and safe. Once the cause of your headaches is determined, they can be avoided through spinal adjustments, exercise, and proper sleeping habits.

Pregnancy and Chiropractoc
Q: I just found out that I am Pregnant. Can I be adjusted while I am Pregnant? Donna P.
A: Yes. Chiropractic care throughout pregnancy is not only safe; it is an essential part of a healthy pregnancy. On average, women gain between 25-35 pounds during their pregnancy. This weight puts tremendous stress on the spine and pelvis. In fact, studies have shown that due to this stress, half of all expectant mothers develop some degree of lower back pain. This pan can be debilitating and may require constant bed rest.
Some OB/GYNs suggest acetaminophen to relieve the pain. While acetaminophen may provide temporary relief, it can also have an effect on the fetus. A safe and proven alternative to medication is chiropractic adjustments. Regular chiropractic care during pregnancy allows the joints of the spine and pelvis to move freely and can help to control the pain. An early 1990’s study showed that 84% of women who received chiropractic adjustments throughout their pregnancy reported less back pain and had lower incidences of back labor during delivery.
